My vision and goals
The starting point of any behaviour change is to set new goals. The change is easier to achieve and sustain if these goals fit well with your values, personal beliefs, and the way you see yourself as a whole, not just as someone who gambles. These goals also need to fit well with the reasons why you want to change your gambling in the first place.
Another important part is to understand what direction to take going forward. Research suggests that there are three main pathways that lead people to problem gambling. Good news is that if you know what pathway you took to get to where you are now, you can also use it to get back in control. Working together with your counsellor you can find out what pathway suits you best.
